Broadland Band has a long history as a village band, supporting local events in the region. Formed in the 1930s under the name “Blofield & District Silver Band”, the band has undergone several changes, moving to Strumpshaw, Freethorpe and then Cantley.
A junior section was formed in the 1980s when both the main and junior bands became known as “South Broadland Brass” and the band moved to Freethorpe Primary School. In 2005, we moved again to a new base in the British Sugar Social Club at Cantley Sugar Factory.
In September 2015 we made the exciting decision to become a concert/wind band and invite woodwind players to join for the first time. This has allowed for a range of new music, a larger band for concerts and engagements, and provides a progression route for those in the Training Band.
